New step in the environmental approach at Château Montrose Commissioning of the first tractor in its future, 100% electric fleet
Since its renovation focused on energy savings and clean energy production, under the leadership of its Owners and its CEO (*), Château Montrose has been committed to an overall environmental approach. Since 2014, the estate has been working on conversion of its vineyard to organic viticulture. 45 ha were concerned in 2017, and 100% organic is the goal for 2020.
Towards more environmental coherence and respect for the soil
In addition to its state-of-the-art equipment and energy production facilities (photovoltaic and geothermal) and as part of its progress towards environment- and terroir-friendly viticulture, the property has just invested in its first 100 % electric tractor.
A tractor 100% made in France and with 0% CO2 emissions
Developed by family-owned company Kremer Énergie, this first electric high-clearance tractor has been hailed as a world-class, award-winning creation. Of 100% French manufacture, it offers the same working conditions as conventional tractors, with identical precision and speed, while being 20% lighter. This reduced weight makes it possible to limit soil compaction, to preserve the vine’s root system and to improve microbial life in the soil.
Extremely quiet, this ergonomic tractor offers greater driving comfort. It has a battery life of 6 to 12 hours depending on the work done, and emits no CO2 into the atmosphere, thus contributing to the reduction in the estate’s carbon footprint.
Using recyclable materials and components (organic oils, aluminium, Lithium-ion batteries with a very long service life…), this vehicle corresponds perfectly to the property’s sustainable development requirements.
Château Montrose is planning, in the future, to replace its entire conventional thermal fleet with electric vehicles.
